Security Clerk (Not-to-Exceed One Year)

Provides traffic control at designated entrances of the FVACHS or specified CBOCs identified above. Maintains a physical presence while monitoring and controlling ingress/egress to VA property ensuring people accessing the facility have a genuine need to do so. Provides for safety and security of the medical center at entry control point by controlling traffic movement and being observant for suspicious or illegal behavior; reports any issues to the VA Police Communications Center via radio or informational purposes only to request assistance. During emergency situations such as vehicle accidents, fires, etc., will contact the VA Police Communications Center for assistance; will secure the area and/ or relinquish control to the VA Police or other emergency response personnel. Provides pedestrian and vehicle traffic control in a manner to ensure the traffic is being directed in a safe manner. Provides screening duties, will ask agency approved Pre-Screening questions regarding COVID-19, conduct a NO Touch Thermometer check, and follow directions provided per standard operating procedures. Meets and interacts with the general public in a manner that promotes a positive image of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Uses and responds to radio communications as necessary. Accesses VA Computer systems for the purpose of checking e-mails, conduct on-line training. Required to rotate shifts, assignments and days off. At the direction of the Chief of Police, may be required to secure the gates of the facility during an emergency. Work Schedule:

Work requires exertions such as long periods of standing, walking, bending and similar activities and occasional lifting and carrying of objects of 25 pounds or less such as temporary traffic signs and traffic cones, exposure to exhaust fumes, working in a variety of extreme weather conditions including cold, heat, high humidity and rain, required to wear a face mask, and high visibility traffic control vest. Callback and emergency posts are frequently required. Additionally, callback and emergency posts may be required during periods of increased National Threat Levels or other Local incidents To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Experience:
You must have one (1) year of general experience with duties related to the position. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position, such as, validating and ensuring accuracy of log statistics, analysis of spreadsheets and recognizing inconsistencies and taking appropriate action to resolve them, using various spreadsheets, tabulating and converting information to create a variety of statistical reports. OR, Education:
One (1) years of education above high school. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR, Combination:
